The Roof on Wilshire

Updated: Mar 9, 2019

If you are in the Los Angeles area I recommend you drop by The Roof on Wilshire. It is a restaurant located in The Hotel Wilshire, a Boutique Kimpton Hotel. I have never heard of the restaurant but have driven by the hotel numerous times having no idea it was there. For this occasion, Jay and I were invited to celebrate a dear friend’s birthday. The get together took place for brunch so we got to delight in good company, good weather, good food and knockout views.

Drinks: I always order a Bloody Mary for brunch (and when I travel), this one was very basic, if you like basic then I say try it, however, basic is not my thing so next time I will pass and try something different. Jay ordered the Wilshire Mule, it was also basic but good, he enjoyed it, and upon one sip I wished I had ordered one myself. We also got a few Mimosa carafe's for the table, nothing special but always a must for brunch as well.

Here are a few dishes we tried…some better than others, but all were pretty good.

Sweet Potato Hash: Good and healthy, however, it is NOT filling. I would suggest you have this to share if you are on a date and order something more substantial as a main dish. Unfortunately, Jay ordered this for his main, he ended up picking off my plate and had to order something else.

Pancake Lasagna: This was so so good (drooling just thinking about it), we ended up ordering another because Jay was still hungry after the Sweet Potato Hash. The Lasagna is made up of bacon, sausage, eggs, cheddar cheese, pancake and a maple béchamel, it might sound crazy but don't let that steer you away from trying it...the combination works! It was so good I attempted to make it at home, mine was good but nothing like The Roof’s version.

Bowl of Goodness: Another healthy option, however, this one was filling. It does not come with meat, so I suggest adding chicken, steak, shrimp, or seared tuna. If you are looking for something that hits all the senses order it! It is sweet, salty, spicy, bitter, you know that umami effect!

Brioche French Toast: It has an orange compote with dulce de leche and is sweet and refreshing at the same time. I don’t have much to say about this one other than if you have room for it go ahead and give it a try.

The winner of the day was....the Pancake Lasagna with the Bowl of Goodness right behind it!

Have you been to The Roof on Wilshire? If so, did you enjoy it? Any suggestions on other places around the City with a great rooftop restaurant and bar we should try? Feel free to drop me a message!

Thanks for stopping by Lovely’s.

XOXO,

KJ
